All about wallpapers
1. Vor dem Tapezieren
Which walls are suitable for wallpaper?
Our nonwoven wallpapers adhere to all smooth, clean, and dry surfaces. Lightly textured walls (e.g., fine woodchip wallpaper) are also suitable. Very uneven, damp, or silicone-containing surfaces are less suitable.
For freshly plastered/raw walls, it is important to treat them with a deep primer beforehand, otherwise the paste may be absorbed too strongly by the wall and the wallpaper may not stick properly.
How do I prepare my wall?
The wall should be smooth, dust-free, and free of grease. Old wallpaper, nails, and uneven surfaces should be removed or filled.

is strongly absorbed by the wall and the wallpaper does not adhere properly.
Our wallpapers are made of a very thick material. However, if your desired design is very light, we recommend painting the wall underneath white before applying it.
Which dimensions do I have to order?
Please measure the entire area to be wallpapered and round up to the nearest 10 centimeters when ordering. If you only rounded up 1 or 2 centimeters, you may want to round up to the nearest 10 centimeters. Not every wall is completely straight . Older walls, in particular, can have significant deviations across their entire length or width. If this is the case, or if you are unsure, round up a little more.
This video explains it to you again visually.
Do I need to include a repeat or offset?
Our wallpapers are delivered to you in pre-cut strips. So you don't have to calculate the pattern repeat. Simply apply the strips to the wall one after the other according to the numbering. You can also refer to the installation instructions .
What do I need to consider with windows, doors or sloping roofs?
It's easy: Please send us a sketch with all the wall dimensions and the exact positions of doors or windows. For variable motifs, you can also upload this sketch directly with your order. We will then incorporate it into the design of your personalized wallpaper and adapt the motifs accordingly. Or, if you prefer, send us the sketch in advance using the contact form below. We will then create a preview for you before you place your order. This way, we ensure that everything fits perfectly and you get exactly what you envisioned.
Can windows, doors or sloping roofs be cut out during production?
Unfortunately not. Experience has shown that when the wallpaper is cut to size at the printer, it can easily happen that it doesn't fit perfectly on the wall. No wall is 100% straight. To ensure a perfect result, we therefore decided to adjust the motif accordingly and then cut it precisely on the wall. Thanks to the adjusted design, no important elements are cut off at these points.
Is your wallpaper child-safe/baby-friendly?
Yes. Our wallpapers are free of PVC, plasticizers, solvents, and animal ingredients. They do not emit fumes and are ideal for children's and baby rooms.
What ingredients and materials are used?
Our wallpapers are made from an exceptionally thick nonwoven material weighing 180 g/m² . They are free of PVC, plasticizers, solvents, and contain no added heavy metal compounds or formaldehyde . This makes them safe for use in nurseries and children's rooms. They meet the requirements for flame-retardant building materials (building material class B1) according to DIN 4102-1.
Can I have the motif customized?
Yes , of course – and it's even free! Sloping ceilings, doors, windows... not every wall is easy :) Feel free to send us an email with a sketch of your wall and the desired motif. We'll then create a free, non-binding preview of how the motif could look on your wall. Our email address: support@unik-nordic.com

What does “variable arrangement” mean?
For all designs with this label, Sindy repositions each element individually. This ensures that no elements are cut off by corners or doors. Depending on the format, however, she may remove one or two elements to maintain the effect of the design and avoid making the wallpaper appear too busy. For example, if one of the animals in a wallpaper is particularly important to you and you have a very narrow format, you can let Sindy know your preference in the personalization field. She will then take it into account when creating the design. You can also use this field to indicate whether you would like a preview before printing.

How is the motif adjusted to my measurements?
You give me your wall dimensions – we adjust the design to ensure the proportions and layout are just right. Individual elements are moved or adjusted to ensure everything looks perfect on your wall.
Gibt es Farbvarianten?
If this label is on your desired design, you can choose the color to suit your taste. There are two options: 1. You can freely choose the background color or the design colors from the available options. 2. You can freely choose the color of all elements from our color chart. You can find all the information about your options in the description of the respective design.

What do the different labels mean?
On the product pages, you can find out what you can customize by looking at the labels. The format is always customized, of course. Some designs can also be customized in terms of the overall color or even the color of individual elements.
Motifs without label
After your order, Sindy will adjust all motifs precisely to your wall dimensions by selecting the best possible cutout. The motif will not be unnaturally distorted.

2. When wallpapering
Is wallpapering easy?
Yes , absolutely! Our wallpapers are made from an exceptionally thick nonwoven material (180 g/m²). This is particularly tear-resistant and easy to work with. Unlike other wallpapers, you don't need to apply paste to the strips beforehand; you can apply the paste directly to the wall. You can even adjust the strips slightly afterwards, making it easy to achieve a perfect butt joint! Then, simply trim off the excess with a sharp wallpaper knife for a perfect finish. If you're still unsure, or if something goes wrong while wallpapering, please don't hesitate to contact us. Together, we're sure to find a solution!
This short video shows you how to apply the wallpaper.
In this detailed video, a master painter worked with us to put wallpaper on the wall.
Are the wallpaper strips pre-cut and numbered?
Yes. Each panel is precisely cut, numbered, and packaged in print order. Instructions are included with every shipment.
Which paste should I use?
For installation, you can use any commercially available paste suitable for nonwoven wallpaper and therefore for direct bonding (applied to the wall, not to the strips). You can find high-quality paste available for purchase in our shop.
Can I wallpaper alone?
Yes, it's easily possible. Our wallpapers are designed to be easy to install even by yourself: The strips are precisely pre-cut, numbered, and packaged in the correct order. Since non-woven wallpapers are applied directly to the pasted wall, there's no need to handle wet material. For larger motifs or very high walls, it may be helpful to have a second person on hand—but it's not absolutely necessary.
What do I need to wallpaper?
You need:
- paste
- a paste roller or paste brush
- a spirit level or plumb line
- a cutter knife or scissors
- a wallpaper spatula or a wallpaper brush
We offer the right accessories in our shop.
How wide are the wallpaper strips?
The wallpaper strips don't have a fixed width; they are cut to fit your wall width. Typically, a strip is just under 50 cm wide.
Can I use wallpaper in my bathroom or outdoors?
Our wallpapers are designed exclusively for indoor use. They can be used in well-ventilated bathrooms where there is no direct contact with water (e.g., from shower water) – ideally on walls that are not exposed to constant moisture. A distance from the sink, bathtub, or shower is recommended.
Our wallpapers are not suitable for direct contact with water or outdoor use, as neither the material nor the printing inks are designed for permanent moisture or severe weather conditions.
Recommendation: After installation, you can also make the wallpaper more durable by applying a sealant from a hardware store. This makes it resistant to minor spills and easy to clean.
Where should I start when wallpapering?
Generally, if the wall has no doors or windows, it doesn't matter which side you start on – you can decide based on personal preference or the room layout. However, if the wall has doors, windows, or other interruptions, we recommend starting directly at one of these edges. This allows for a particularly precise fit and clean cut of the wallpaper strips.
How do I deal with electrical sockets and light switches when wallpapering?
Before wallpapering, remove the covers from electrical sockets and light switches – and very importantly: turn off the power at the fuse box beforehand. Use a voltage tester to ensure that there is no longer any voltage present.
The wallpaper is then applied over the relevant areas as usual. Once the strip is in place, a small cross is cut into the wallpaper at the location of the socket or switch. The corners of the cut are carefully folded back, and the excess material along the edges is neatly trimmed away – so that the cover will later conceal everything.
Finally, the wallpaper is smoothed out, the cover is replaced, and the power is switched back on. This ensures a clean and safe result – even in difficult areas.
3. Nach dem Tapezieren
Is the wallpaper wipeable?
Light soiling can be wiped off with a soft, slightly damp cloth. We don't recommend using harsh cleaners or sponges. To be on the safe side, you can treat the wallpaper with a wallpaper sealant/elephant skin from a hardware store after applying it. This makes it more durable and easier to clean.
How do I remove the wallpaper?
The wallpaper can be removed dry in strips. If adhesive residue remains, clean the wall with warm, soapy water and a sponge or soft cloth.
Does the wallpaper leave marks on the wall?
If you prepare the surface well and carefully remove the wallpaper, usually nothing will be left behind.
Can I reorder a wallpaper strip?
Yes, that's possible. Please send us an email and provide us with the original order number so the wallpaper strip can be seamlessly installed.
Rund um Küchenfolien
1. Vor dem Anbringen
On which surfaces do the films stick?
The films adhere to all smooth, grease-free and dry surfaces – e.g. tiles, glass, plastic or painted wood.
Can I stick the film on tile backsplash?
Yes. The film is so strong that joints are invisible. Ideal as a splash guard in the kitchen.
How robust is the film?
Our films are particularly robust, scratch-resistant and opaque – with a thickness of approx. 140 micrometers.
What material is used?
It's a high-quality, self-adhesive glass laminate. An extra protective layer is applied to the front, making it particularly durable. This premium material is ideal for the daily wear and tear of the kitchen and also offers hygienic benefits.
Can I order a sample of the kitchen foil?
Yes. For each design, we offer a sample, which is printed at the original resolution on the glass laminate.
2. When attaching
How do I attach the kitchen foil?
First, peel off a portion of the protective film on the back of one of the sides. Then, apply the film to the surface and press firmly into place. This will hold it in place, allowing you to peel off the backing film piece by piece and press the film down. The extra-thick material also prevents visible air bubbles from forming. You can use a simple dry cloth to press it down. A squeegee isn't necessary.
Can I stick the film around corners?
Currently, our films aren't designed for direct application across corners. However, if you're looking to get a little creative, you can use a matching corner strip. This elegantly conceals the intersecting film edges and achieves a clean, high-quality result.
Can I make cutouts or bevel cuts myself?
Yes. Cutouts and precise cuts can easily be made using a cutter or sharp knife.
3. Nach dem Anbringen
How do I clean the film?
You can clean the film with a damp cloth or rag and standard cleaning agents. However, please do not use scouring creams, as the particles they contain can damage the film.
How do I remove the film?
The film can be removed without leaving any residue – best done slowly and evenly at room temperature.
Does the film leave residue?
No. Nothing remains on smooth, suitable surfaces.
All about wall stickers
1. Vor dem Anbringen
What surface do the stickers stick to?
On smooth, clean surfaces such as walls, furniture, doors, or mirrors. Fine woodchip wallpaper is also suitable.
Freshly painted walls should be allowed to dry for at least 2 weeks.
Do the stickers leave residue?
No, they can be removed and reused without leaving any residue – even after a long time.
Can I stick the stickers on furniture?
Yes, they work particularly well on painted or smooth wooden surfaces such as IKEA furniture.
Do the stickers have a white border?
No. The stickers are contour-cut and fit neatly with the motif.
What material are the stickers made of?
They are made of strong, adhesive vinyl with a matte finish. The material is tear-resistant and can be reused over and over again.
Can I order a sample of the stickers?
Yes, you can order a sample here: Wall sticker sample
2. When attaching
How do I apply the stickers correctly?
Peel the sticker from the backing sheet and position it on the wall. Then simply smooth it down firmly with your hand.
How often can you reuse the stickers?
You can remove and reposition the stickers multiple times - without leaving any residue.
What should I keep in mind when applying the wall stickers?
Our wall stickers adhere particularly well to smooth, clean surfaces – however, it's still important to press them down firmly when applying them. Since the material is designed to be easily removed or repositioned, a little extra pressure is needed during application to ensure optimal adhesion and a smooth, flat finish on the wall. For best results, smooth the stickers from the center outwards with your hand or a soft cloth – this will prevent air bubbles and ensure a clean, even finish.
3. Nach dem Anbringen
How do I remove the stickers?
Simply peel off slowly and evenly. No residue will remain on the wall, allowing you to reposition the stickers.
The stickers don’t stick – what can I do?
Please check that the surface is clean and dry. Thanks to their special backing, the stickers will adhere better the more firmly you press them on. If you have any problems, please contact us – we're happy to help.

Label explanation
Variable arrangement
For all motifs with this label, each element is individually repositioned by me. This means that no elements are cut off by corners and doors. Depending on the format, however, I may remove one or two elements to maintain the effect of the motif and prevent the wallpaper from appearing too restless. If, for example, one of these is particularly important to you in a wallpaper with animals and you have a very narrow format, you are welcome to write your request in the personalization field. I will then take this into account when creating the design. You can also write in this field whether you would like a preview before printing.

Color variants
If this label is on your desired design, you can pick the color to suit your taste. There are 2 variants: 1. You can freely choose the background color or the design colors from the selection options. 2. You can freely choose the color of all elements from my color chart. You can find all the information about your selection options in the description of the respective motif.

Adjustment to dimensions
After your order, I will adapt all motifs exactly to your wall dimensions by choosing the best possible optical detail or (if possible) distorting the motif slightly. With marble wallpapers, for example, it is not visually noticeable if the motif is slightly compressed or distorted. However, this allows you to retain as much detail as possible.
